Worried by many of the tattoo removal before and after pictures?
Prefer people can’t see you’ve had a tattoo removed ? Of course.
Sadly, though, in some cases, the results are disappointing – some people would say disastrous.
This can be for many reasons …
Did you know know that tattoo inks are classified as cosmetics?
It means they are subject to regulation by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
But manufacturers are not required to reveal their ingredients or conduct trials …
And the FDA has noted that many ink pigments used in tattoos are “industrial strength colors suitable for printers’ ink or automobile paint.”
Heavy metals, for example, mercury, lead, and copper may be used for colour.
If you live in California, your tattoo parlour must warn you if the pigment contains heavy metals, which are known to cause cancer, birth defects and other reproductive problems.
With so little regulation, there are many different formulas in use. This, of course, makes tattoo removal risky. So …
It’s important to remember there are few guarantees when it comes to tattoo removal. There are two certainties though:
- it will take time and
- it will cost money.

Laser Tattoo Removal
What to expect and a vital tip which may surprise you …
Today, there are many clinics specialising in laser tattoo removal. Laser tattoo removal is big business.
In fact, if you only do a little research, you might think laser tattoo removal is your only option.
While results can be excellent, it takes time (months, even years) and many $$$, even $$$$ to have even a small tattoo removed.
Tip – Check out the qualifications of the laser tattoo operator.
This tip alone may save you ending up scarred for life.
At the time of writing, there are no laws requiring them to have specific medical licenses or even specific training in some parts of the world.
If you are wondering does laser tattoo removal hurt, the answer is “YES!” (though many clinics advertise that it is pain-free).
Laser treatment can be very painful – like being splattered with hot fat some people say.
You can have a local anaesthetic at about $50 a time and an expensive soothing cream to use after the laser treatment.
Depending on which type of laser is used, it can take between 5 – 20 sessions to remove a tattoo, with sessions usually at least 6-8 weeks apart.
(Update in 2017… I see some clinics are now suggesting just 3 weeks between treatments).
Vital Tip …
An industry insider tells me it is is much better (and cheaper) to wait 3 months between treatments to give the body a better chance to remove more of the ink naturally … meaning you will need fewer treatments.
You can understand why the laser clinics don’t want you to know this 🙂
Fewer treatments are needed with the latest PicoSure lasers, so consequently, you pay very much more per session.
Why are some tattoo removal before and after pics so awful?
Some ink colours and some types of ink react badly to lasers, turning even darker rather than disappearing. This is irreversible, so you will have to live with it 🙁
Unfortunately, there is no way the laser tattoo removal operator can tell what type of pigment was used for your tattoo, just by looking at it …
Much also depends on your skin … here’s how clinics work out the cost of laser treatment.
Some pigments are easier to remove, with fluorescent colors being the most difficult.
There are many examples on the internet of laser tattoo removal before and after pictures showing terrible scarring.
Sometimes plastic surgery can put these disasters right, but at your expense, of course.
If you decide laser tattoo removal is the best choice for you, watch the video and check out Tania’s advice here.
She had her tattoo removed by laser and shares her experience with you, so you know how to judge a clinic and what questions to ask, for example.
Are There Other Methods of Tattoo Removal I Should Consider?
Yes – and these can be painful, too!
Once the tattoo has been cut away, the surgeon then stitches up the wound.
Scarring is quite likely, though, and obviously it’s not suitable for tattoos on the neck or wrist etc
If you are lucky, the scar may fade with time – or, depending on its position, you may want to consider plastic surgery.
Intense Pulsed Light Therapy, or IPL, is another popular treatment.
Instead of laser light, it uses high intensity light in much the same way.
A gel is applied to the skin and then a wand is used to emit pulses of light onto the skin area being treated.
It’s expensive – $10 per pulse is not unusual.
Dermabrasion and Salabrasion and both methods where the top layers of skin are removed to get rid of the tattoo.
(Salt is used to abrade the skin in salabrasion. In derma brasion, harsh ingredients like powdered pumice or apricot kernels are used).
Naturally this is very painful.
Depending on the type of ink used and depth it was injected at, it can take repeated treatments to remove the tattoo.
With these methods, tattoo removal before and after pictures will almost certainly show scarring.
Some use cancer causing ingredients and some give off dangerous fumes.
With so much to consider, many people decide to live with the embarrassment of a tattoo rather than risk some of these methods.
Perhaps they don’t have the time or money for the expensive removal methods, or perhaps they are worried about the pain and scars …
But they don’t know the Tattoo Artist’s story which I about to share with you 🙂
Before I do, though, there is another alternative you might want to think about …
Tattoo Removal Cover Ups
This could be an alternative …
In order to cover the previous tattoo effectively, remember that the new tattoo will have to be bigger and thicker than the previous one and you may not like the result.
Don’t be rushed into a decision by the Studio.
After all, you are going to have to live with it for a long time.
Ask to see their gallery of before and after pictures of cover ups before you decide to go ahead.
Check that these are of work carried out in their Studio and not just standard issue pics.
Here’s the really good news…
You do have another choice … just what thousands of people have been looking for …

Here are his genuine tattoo removal before and after pictures.
And even he was surprised with the results!
A well-known Tattoo Artist and Cover Up Specialist and his wife divorced.
He had her name tattoo’d on his chest and legs and now he wanted to get rid of them.
He’d seen the awful results of the usual methods of tattoo removal, so didn’t want to use them.
Having always had an interest in natural ingredients and ways to remove tattoos, he began to research this.
He experimented on himself to see what worked.
To his amazement, he was able to get rid of the unwanted tattoos – at a cost of about $15 a month over 6 months, using readily available ingredients, some of which he had at home …
His clients noticed he had got rid of these tattoos and wanted to know how he had done it.
He shared his formula with them.
As you can imagine, word spread rapidly 🙂
So much so, that so many phone calls began to interfere with his work…
So he decided to publish his formulas.
